Procedure details for NeoGraft

NeoGraft is the least invasive of all hair transplant procedures, and is relatively pain-free. Dr. Halaas and her team provide a comfortable and thorough procedure. The area where follicles are being taken from and implemented will be treated with local anesthetic, keeping discomfort at bay. Using NeoGraft’s high-tech automated method, the hair follicles are taken from the back of the head.

(They can also sometimes be taken from other parts of the body, such as the back or the chest.) After the follicles are harvested, Dr. Halaas will create a series of precise incisions in the pre-determined areas. She will then carefully and artistically place the hair grafts to emulate the natural contour of your hairline. The entire procedure lasts 3-8 hours, depending on the number of follicles being harvested.

Recovery and results

Following a NeoGraft procedure, the patient’s scalp is thoroughly rinsed and dressed. Dr. Halaas will provide aftercare instructions to help your recovery go as smoothly as possible. Slight swelling and redness are to be expected, but these typically subside within 4-7 days. Patients can usually return to work the next day, with few restrictions on activity. Within 3-4 weeks, the donor hair should begin to shed. This is normal before new hair growth.
