When a person’s under eye area sinks in, it is considered a “hollow”. Hollows appear when there is a significant lack of fatty tissue under the eye. This can occur from genetics or from the natural aging process. Because the skin is stretched thin, the veins present there become more visible, creating a blue or black tint. Facial fat transfers or precise injections of hyaluronic acid fillers such as Restylane or Belotero are an effective way to treat hollows.
Fat transfer works by using your own body fat to add volume to the hollows. The fat is taken from a place it is unwanted, and transferred to where it is needed. Fat can be a long-lasting method to providing volume to the face.
Restylane injections are a great option. The area under our eyes is extremely sensitive and very easily affected. Restylane is a reliable, dissolvable and bioidentical filler, making it perfect for the sensitive area beneath the eyes. This almost entirely painless process can also reduce puffiness under the lower lids by hiding the valley between the puff and the hollowness beneath the puffiness. The results typically last over half a year, which is much longer than most non-invasive under eye treatments. The treatment itself usually takes less than half an hour. It is highly recommended for patients who are not yet ready to undergo lower eyelid blepharoplasty.
Facial fat transfers and Restylane injections can both add hours of rest and relaxation to your appearance. People will no longer comment on your tired countenance or mistake you for being older than you are.
